Macchia’s story

Macchia carries with her the inevitable signs of the exploitation connected to the dairy industry. As a matter of fact, huge, sick udders dangle from her stomach, as a proof of the cruelty she was subjected to. She’s lucky because she can bring up her last son, Ercolino, after their arrival at the sanctuary. They were saved from the slaughter by the skin of their teeth. Macchia always reminds us how strong the maternal bond is, regardless of the species: everyday she licks and takes care of her son, and although he has grown up by now, they are still each other’s centre.

Macchia is sponsored by Stefania from Florence, Valerio from Rome and Alessio from Rieti.
